The World Youth Days will be accessible to persons with hearing disabilities
Thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Archdiocese of Madrid and FIAP
The Archbishop of Madrid and the English Confederation of Families of the Deaf (FIAP ) have signed a collaboration agreement for the World Youth Days (WYD), to be held in the capital of Spain from 16 to 21 August this year, are accessible for citizens with hearing impairment.
As reported Friday cited confederation, under that agreement, the entity will carry out a feasibility study accessible to deaf people the main events of World Youth Days 2011.
In this way, said FIAP, the agreement aims to bring accessibility to information and communication more than 1,000 young deaf people, who are expected to attend the August meeting.
And to make facilities accessible, the federation is thinking about installing any subtitle magnetic loops and live, both in Castilian and English, what is said in the conference, to be developed in three stages.
These scenarios will be the plaza de Cibeles, which will host the Mass of Pope Benedict XVI and Cardinal Rouco Varela, Four Winds, site of the memorial before the closing Mass of the event, and the Colegio de la Purisima de Madrid, which will become the center for the deaf and performances to be staged by young people themselves deaf, catechesis, church services, accommodation and meetings.
All these acts are also accessible through the Support Service Accessibility FIAP, providing comprehensive coverage to the needs of deaf people in relation to acts and accessibility in public spaces. FIAP
This project has an official and is possible because with the financing of the ONCE Foundation and the Ministry of Health, Politics Social and Equality under the Tax Allocation of income tax, and in collaboration with Vodafone.
